Korean bishops: promote fellowship and prayer for Christian unity
Seoul (AsiaNews) - Sharing the "true value" of Christians through "the passion of the disciples" who suffered martyrdom and "living in unity" to achieve the "peace of Christ." This is what Msgr. Hyginus Kim Hee-joong, Archbishop of Kwangju and president of the South Korean bishops' Committee for Unity and Interreligious Dialogue, underlines during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, to be held in Korea 17 to 23 January 2011 .
In the message entitled "Communion and prayer are the beginning of true unity," released a few days of the week, Msgr. Kim said that "the Mother Church in Jerusalem expressed the importance of communion and prayer for the unity of the Body of Christ, despite the wounds caused by divisions." The Archbishop of Kwangju and president of the Episcopal Committee for the promotion of Christian unity and interreligious dialogue recalls the teachings of the early Christians, who urge us to "share the communion in the true value of the Christians, with the passion of disciples who have suffered martyrdom. " A condition, according to the prelate, that is essential to "promote Christian unity."
In conclusion, the Archbishop Kim adds that "we can be the true salt and light of the world, creating peace of Christ on earth" only if you first "We can be the true salt and light of the world realizing the peace of the Christ in this land if we first make peace with each other and live in unity. Let us make a time for common prayer if we meet the Protestant brethren (compagni, fratelli) in our home, work place and society”. The Holy Spirit, - he concludes - the Spirit of the unity will make us as one in prayer when we share in communion"16/01/2022 08:00
