Ahmadinejad unveils “messenger of death” air-drone
Tehran (AsiaNews / Agencies) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday presented a new small (unmanned) air-drone built in Iran and able to drop bombs in a radius of 1000 km.
Unveiling the new product called "Karra" (the diminutive of Imam Ali, revered by Shiites) yesterday, the President declared that " This jet is a messenger of honour and human generosity and a saviour of mankind, before being a messenger of death for enemies of mankind”.
The small plane can carry two 115 pound bombs or a bomb of 250-pounds.
The launch of the new plane was part of the Defence Industry Day, celebrated yesterday. It is possible that in the coming days further new weaponry will be presented during the "Week of the government," that Tehran holds each year tout its results.
Iran is expected to test fire a third-generation Fateh 110 missile, missile carriers, motorboats, etc.. Days ago, Iran acquired four new mini-submarines, which are useful for operations in shallow waters, such as the Gulf.
Two days ago, Tehran also announced the commencement of activities in the Bushehr nuclear power plant in cooperation with Russia. The United States argues that in this they do not see a risk of “nuclear proliferation" because the plant is for civilian purposes. But Israel has condemned the activities as dangerous. Russia has also guaranteed the "peaceful" purposes of the plant.
According to employment reports related to Iran, inflation has risen in the country this year to 37% (last year it was 30%) and many workers are unable to support their families. At least 18% of the population lives below the poverty line.
