The American invasion of Ukraine
Zelenskyj is today crushed not only by Russian armies and bombs, but above all by the economic interests that unite enemies and friends, inside and outside the country.
Three years after the Russian invasion, Ukraine is now under attack from an unexpected Western enemy, Donald Trump's America, which accuses President Volodymyr Zelenskyj of being a usurper to be removed, as Vladimir Putin's Russia claimed in 2022.
To justify the special military operation, the Russians emphasized the “Nazi” drift of the Kiev government, stating the need to defend the motherland of the Holy Rus' from Western depravity, bearer of the poison of non-traditional “false values”.
Today the Americans argue the need to defend the West from Europeanizing tendencies, bearer of the economic exploitation of NATO, an institution to be dissolved as an authentic enemy of the prosperity of empires.
According to the new Trumpian narrative, the aggressor state is not Putin's Russia, but Zelenskyj's Ukraine, which stubbornly continued the war when it would have been enough to come to an agreement three years ago, avoiding deaths and destruction and ceding the territories without further ado.
In fact, the hundreds of thousands of deaths on both sides have not moved the borders of the disputed lands, leaving Crimea and Donbass, already occupied since 2014, under Moscow's control, and that was enough to reach an agreement without too much hesitation.
Now all that's needed is a properly managed election that will send the current leadership in Kiev into exile, the real purpose of the assault of the first hundred thousand Russian soldiers in 2022, replacing them with “practical men” similar to those who today occupy the halls of power in Washington, ready to make deals with their friends in the Kremlin.
Ukraine will therefore be divided between the East and the West, as has been its nature since the times of Kievan Rus': one third will remain with Russia, as the 101st Republic of the Eurasian Federation of the Russian World, and two thirds will be integrated as the 51st State of the United States, a reservoir of rare earths and a European outpost of American domination, leaving the 27 EU countries and the 31 NATO countries to their endless diatribes and the weakness of their economies, unable to organize for themselves a real defense against the assaults of the dominating powers.
In the madness of the 21st century, where the aggressors and destroyers of mankind award themselves the titles of national heroes in the name of the state religion, and agree to divide up the lands of their victims without even giving them the right to participate in the peace negotiations, the horrors of the previous century end up paling in comparison, and appear as faded premises of a world order increasingly similar to the apocalyptic prophecies of the authors of the early twentieth century, from Vladimir Solov'ev's The Legend of the Antichrist to Robert Benson's The Master's Way, which saw the world of the year 2000 divided into three large political blocs: East, West and the Americas, namely Russia, the USA and China.
What is missing compared to the stories of that time is the charismatic power of the rulers, replaced by people of very low profile.
The start of the Riyadh talks has already put an end to one of the main hypocrisies of the years of the Russian war in Ukraine, that of Western sanctions, which were already ineffective during the course of their application, and have now dissolved into a “policy of rekindling relations”, as the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the Saudi meetings.
The reciprocal embassies of Moscow and Washington are re-established in their full composition, even with the restitution of the Russian villas in Washington and Maryland, seized in 2016 by Barack Obama.
The Nobel Peace Prize, lightly awarded to Obama himself in 2009, will end up being awarded to his current successor, as hoped for by several politicians even in the same derelict Western Europe, now excluded from the great games of the new multipolar vision of the “world of peace” and mutual economic interests.
It is no coincidence that Trump, through his representatives in the US Congress, blocked economic contributions to Ukraine in 2023 for many months, forcing Europeans to support Kiev with their own funds, and today the former Ukrainian president Petro Porošenko claims that ” European money has been of little use, only the Americans can offer adequate military aid”, he said at the start of the next election campaign in Kiev.
Like Trump, Poroshenko is an entrepreneur who was called the ‘chocolate king’ of Ukraine, and he will have no problem coming to an agreement with Moscow and Washington if he is reinstated as president.
Zelenskyj was elected president in May 2019, to try to oppose the castes that controlled Ukraine with networks of corruption at all levels, and also for this reason he found himself having to personify the hero of the resistance to the war.
The man Trump calls a “mediocre comic actor” is today crushed not only by Russian armies and bombs, but above all by the economic interests that unite enemies and friends, inside and outside the country.
In his place, men like Poroshenko or similar are needed, capable of guaranteeing the interests of all sides, because the money from military operations, multiplied in recent years with large profits on all sides, is evidently running out and the hundreds of billions thrown away need to be recouped, the main reason for Trump's success in the last elections, which is expected to be repeated in Ukraine, given that in Russia it's useless even talking about elections, on this anniversary of the death of Putin's last opponent, the political martyr Alexei Naval'nyj.
Poroshenko was the president who organized the establishment of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church (PZU), in agreement with the Patriarchate of Constantinople, one of the greatest offenses against the Russians.
The Verkhovnaja Rada, the Kiev parliament, has outlawed the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church traditionally linked to the Patriarchate of Moscow (UPC), and the ecclesiastical question is splitting the whole of Ukrainian society, where the orientation towards one or other Church crosses practically all families.
Zelenskyj has tried to remain as neutral as possible on the issue, but then explicitly supported the dissolution of the UOC MP, an extremely difficult operation that refers the definition of each parish and monastery to the courts.
Here too the “practical men” like Porošenko, who try to save both the goat and the cabbage by insisting on autocephaly on the one hand, and protecting dependence on Moscow on the other: it's one of the most typical aspects of Ukraine, which remains in the balance even in the spiritual sphere in order to reaffirm its role as a bridge between East and West, an aspect that is almost impossible for Westerners to understand.
Trump wants to buy Greenland and reclaim the Gaza Strip, and he certainly has no qualms about taking most of Ukraine, guaranteeing himself 500 billion dollars in “compensation” in rare earths and securing the Black Sea ports, the terminal infrastructures of the eastern routes, the oil and gas, and all the potential of Ukraine's natural and geographical resources.
The country destroyed by Putin must be rebuilt, and the United States has a great deal of experience in rebuilding in Europe. For years, 50% of Ukraine's earnings and financial licenses will be America's prerogative, and the European Union will have very little say in the matter.
This economic relationship is much worse than all the sanctions imposed on Russia, which are now effectively canceled: Ukraine will pay the cost of the Russian war, while Russia will be relieved of all obligations.
Equal to the other 50 American states, Ukraine will enjoy a certain autonomy, it will have its own constitution and parliament, with the guarantee of security from the master of Washington, but it will not be a free country: it will return to the days of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania, before the Cossack gangs handed it over to the Tsar of Moscow.
Russia seems to accept this division of influences, also because recent events are producing an unexpected effect, that of “forgetting China”, despite the proclamations of Putin and Xi Jinping, who ensured their presence at the victory parades on May 9 in Moscow and at the end of September in Beijing.
The Russians were tired of being flanked only by the Chinese and Asians, being a people of European and Western culture and similarities, and the acceptance of relations with the Americans in the Riyadh negotiations was welcomed in Russia with a sense of liberation, of reconciliation with true Western friends, those ready to make agreements and stop wars.
One of Putin's main propagandists, the television presenter Margarita Simonyan, led a triumphal procession through the streets of Moscow in 2016, waving the American flag in honor of Trump's first victory, and now she can rejoice again, because America has invaded Ukraine, freeing Russia from China's grip.
If Trump then joins Putin and Xi on Red Square on May 9th, on the elevated ramps above Lenin's mausoleum, world peace will finally be celebrated, bringing to an end the world wars of the last two centuries.
