Planning an ‘Islamic’ car with Qur’an and compass to find Makkah
Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNews) – Malaysia, Iran and Turkey plan to build an ‘Islamic car’ fitted with a compass to find the direction of Makkah, and a compartment to keep the Qur’an and the prayer rug, the Malaysian state news agency Bernama said
Malaysian automaker Proton's managing director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the vehicle was an Iranian initiative made during a visit to Tehran.
“What they (Iran) want to do is to call that an Islamic car," he said. “The car will have all the Islamic features and should be meant for export purposes.
The plan by Proton should involve Iran and Turkey and, according to Syed Zainal, it should be able to get a big volume of orders with government help.
