Mumbai, the apostolate of communication to make known Jesus and his Gospel
Mumbai (AsiaNews) - More than 200 faithful, priests and lay people joined the congregation of the Sister Disciples of the Divine Master in the solemn celebration of the Feast of the Divine Master Jesus, held in the chapel of Prarthanalaya in Bandra on 31 October.
Sister Valerie, superior of the congregation, told AsiaNews: " Our main Mission in focused on the Divine Master, the Way, Truth, and Life. This Year is also very special as we recently celebrated the Golden Jubilee of our “Rule of Life”. Our focus is to nourish the soul of the Pauline Family and to serve the Church as a whole. We, Adore, Serve and Celebrate Jesus in the Eucharist and world and make Jesus Known.. "
The Disciples of the Divine Master spend three hours a day in prayer, and their days are open to the transforming power of God's love as expressed in music, art, architecture, paying particular attention to priests in difficulties. The sisters encourage the lay faithful to participate in prayers and apostolic activities organized by the congregation.
When asked about their prayers for the media, Sister Valerie said: "the apostolate of communication considered in the Light of the Divine Master has its purpose to make known Jesus Christ and his Gospel so that people may have abundant life. It is also essential, that those in the filed of communication, may effectively promote true human and Christian values, to enable the media offset the voices of error and evil".
Fr George, who presided the Eucharist made reference in his homily to Jesus the Teacher stating that while Socrates, Plato and Aristotle taught for a combined 130 years, the influence of Christ’s three-year ministry infinitely transcends the impact. Every sphere of human greatness has been enriched by the humble Teacher of Nazareth, whose unique contribution to the human race is the salvation of soul. Fr George concluded by inviting people to celebrate his feast by reflect on influence of Christ’s teaching and life.
The congregation was founded in 1924 by Giacomo Alberione, founder of the Pauline Family. The Feast of the Divine Master Jesus was established in 1958 by the Pope, always wanted by the founder of the religious institute.
