Mediation for Father Bossi’s release continues

Contacts are ongoing as hope in “positive developments” endures. PIME missionaries are cautiously optimistic.

Zamboanga (AsiaNews) – Mediation for Fr Giancarlo Bossi’s release still continues. Contacts are ongoing and PIME missionaries in the Philippines are cautiously optimistic. “We are waiting for positive developments,” PIME missionary in Zamboanga Fr Luciano Benedetti told AsiaNews.

Prayers for the release of the PIME missionary continue almost 40 days since armed men kidnapped him on June 10. The faithful are still calling on the Lord to free him, hoping that his kidnappers and those trying to exploit the event for political and ideological purposes might heed their words. The Father Bossi was taken towards the end of a mass he was celebrating in Payao, a small town near his parish church, not far from Zamboanga (Mindanao).

“So many are trying to help,” said Father Benedetti. “These days we have felt the sympathy of so many people and this bodes well that it might be persuasive and lead to Father Bossi’s release.”
