Korean bishops: Christmas, best day to renew our love for Christ
Each bishop has written a Christmas message to their faithful, which will be read during Christmas celebrations. For card. Cheong, “at Christmas we must rediscover unselfish love, towards our neighbours”.
Seoul (AsiaNews) – Christ “is the light of the world, who teaches us and illuminates our path, dispelling hate and conflict. Only by following His love can we hope to live a worthy life, and Christmas is the perfect season to renew ourselves in this true love”. This is the sense f the messages sent by all of the Korean bishops to their diocese to mark Christmas celebrations.
In his letter, addressed to the faithful of the diocese of Seoul card. Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk writes: “Celebrating this joyful Christmas, I hope that antipathy, hatred, conflicts and discord come to an end and instead mercy and forgiveness are abundant in us and all over the world. The biggest tragedy in our times is that we have lost the true love. The Church should first reflect on herself if she practices true love”.
John Choi Young-soo, Archbishop of Daegu, said, "Christmas is a day of blessing on which the Divine love and His reign over the world have been revealed. We should share joy and practice love with the marginalized and the neglected.”.
“Christmas – underlines Andreas Choi Chang-mou, Archbishop of Kwangju - is the time to reflect on the passing days and to look forward to the days to come, along with the joy of welcoming 'a great light'." He also recommended the faithful to "remember the love of God who desires to give us the eternal life through Christ," and to "follow the footsteps of Christ. In this way yours will be a perfect Christmas”.
