Catholic media awarded for defending right to life
Bangkok (AsiaNews) – The Thai Church has awarded Catholic media that this year promoted the right to life and the family. The ceremony for the conferring of the Catholic Media Awards was presided over by Mgr George Yod Phimphisan, president of the Thai Bishops’ Conference. The event, which is held every December, was organized by the Catholic Social Communications of Thailand (CSCT): the aim is to encourage those in the communications sector to work on productions that have a positive impact on society, especially on young people and children. The CSCT aims to raise awareness among these age brackets about the value of human life, the family and human dignity.
The winners this year were those who paid especial attention to these themes. The TV spot “My Girl” presented by the Thai Insurance Company was awarded for defending the right to life against abortion. The spot encourages women with unexpected pregnancies to turn to their parents for support to avoid abortions.
Another spot, entitled “Always Smile” focused on the theme of family solidarity. The production is based on a true story of a handicapped elder brother who had to take care of a sister because they were orphans. Both of them lived full of hope, encouraging one another despite their problems.
