Bomb explodes at a Baghdad church, 35 people injured
Baghdad (AsiaNews/Agencies) -- At least 35 people were injured in an explosion that destroyed an external wall of the St. Bahnam Catholic Church, in the southwest part of Baghdad, and caused fires in nearby homes.
According to initial news released by police, the explosion was the result of a carbomb, while, according to witnesses and inhabitants of the Dora district, a device had been placed in the vicinity.
Just last month, five churches of various Christian denominations had been the target of bombings that clearly intended to intimidate the country's Christian community, which had already been hit by a series of attacks in August that had claimed 11 lives. (FP)
