Archbishop of Seoul: "The Year of Faith invites us to renew our being Christian"
Seoul (AsiaNews) - The crisis in the faith of Korean Catholics "is born from the weak foundations of the promotion of the Christian message. I hope and I ask you all to relaunch concrete programs for the Year of Faith, to foster a rebirth of our joint commitment." This is what the Archbishop of Seoul, Msgr. Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, writes in the episcopal letter that accompanies "Introduction to the Year of Faith," a booklet sent by the archdiocese to every parish.
The letter is titled "Let us walk forward in faith with our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ who leads us to the fulfilment of the faith." In the text, the bishop writes: "You may experience the joy of faith when you bear fruit in the 'service of love', by frequent reading and meditation of the Bible in incessant prayer, by faithfully learning the teachings of the Church, and by devoutly participating in Mass".
The book was prepared for the faithful, designed to "make this experience of the Year of Faith fruitful." It invites the parish priests and religious to pursue "concrete plans" for greater community participation in Catholic events and contains the Apostolic Letter Porta Fidei and an explanation of the five slogans chosen by the Archdiocese for the celebration of this year, willed by Benedict XVI.
