A political alliance to return the monarchy
Kathmandu (AsiaNews) – A new political alliance, made up of 19 newly formed parties has decided to participate in upcoming elections for the National Constitutional Assembly and restore the Hindu monarchy, thrown out by popular protests last April.
Arun Subedi, President of Shiv Sena Nepal confirmed: “We have formed a National Democratic Alliance, in order to return the constitutional monarchy and the Hindu kingdom”. Subedi said their election manifesto is “the Gita, the Hindu mythological epic poem. We have been distributing it to the people, adding a few points to it”.
The Maoist movement, which came back within the national democratic process after years of war a few months ago, was quick to respond: “If government will not declare Nepal as republic and abolish king before the Constitutional Assembly, we will not run for the CA and remain no longer in government”.
