Tajikistan's 'model family'
In Dushanbe, a national competition organised by the government to identify the one closest to the 'ideal traits': a family from the Sugd region was awarded. Distinctive traits include the readiness of young people to serve their country, in civil and military functions, and their contribution to counteracting negative factors in the development of society.
Dušanbe (AsiaNews) - The national competition for the "Model Family" has ended in Tajikistan, in which the special prize was awarded to the family of Okilboj Gadoev from the city of Istiklol in the Sugd region, the ancient Iranian area of Sogdiana, while the family of Talabkhudži Nozimov from the city of Kuljab, in the Khatlon region, qualified for first place overall. The winners, together with the families ranked first, were awarded gifts and awards by the Dušanbe government's Committee for Women and Family.
The criteria for defining the "ideal traits" of families were the ability to be a model for the local reality of residence, the health of the members and the strong relationships between them, the good education of their children and the contribution to the well-being of their own house, streets, village and adjacent province. Also very important is the active participation of family members in social initiatives, individually or in groups, the role of the family in defending the values of national culture, knowledge of the Tajik language and participation in republican competitions, cultural and sporting competitions.
A distinctive point is the willingness of young people to serve their country, in civil and military roles, and the contribution of families to combating negative factors for the development of society. The vice-president of the Committee, Zarina Abdulmainzoda, explained that the competition was held "with the aim of strengthening the status and role of the family in society, to propagate the culture of the family and raise the cultural and social level, showing the model of ideal families."
The competition was held in three stages, at city, regional and republican level. Together with the documents, the participants were subjected to various checks by the appropriate commissions, made up of representatives of the ministry and other bodies, with interviews for the entire family body and its individual members.
The commissioners also spoke with the civil authorities of the various localities and inhabited centers, with the heads of the schools where the boys and girls study, with neighbors and relatives. Visits were carried out in the homes of the participants, evaluating the state of maintenance and renovations, the surrounding areas, and summarizing the family values witnessed by the various communities encountered.
The organizers of the competition specified that the material and financial conditions of the families participating in the competition would not constitute a decisive factor, comparing them to the other requests for the expression of values. As Abdulmainzoda explained, "above all, the good upbringing of children, the level of their education, the respect towards families from the surrounding environment and in the workplace, and in general good relations with everyone in reality are taken into account where daily life takes place."
The Tajik government places great emphasis on active participation in "cultural events", exhibitions, shows and competitions, and any other kind of public initiative of social significance". Younger families were also invited to the "Model Family" competition, favoring in this case "the quality of relationships between husband and wife", but also those with fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, a sore point in family histories throughout the world. world.
