MYANMAR

The military junta has ordered all military reserves to prepare given the shortage of soldiers. The call comes after the junta lost over 100 bases and numerous soldiers due to the ongoing offensive by the resistance, which has spread from northern Shan State to the center of the country. TAIWAN

Taiwan is targeting China's "communist spies" ahead of crucial presidential elections, at the heart of which is the future of the island's relationship with Beijing. Over the past 10 months, Taiwanese authorities have issued a steady stream of accusations and condemnations alleging that Beijing's spying strategy has intensified and extended beyond military circles. Retired Air Force Colonel Liu Sheng-shu was sentenced to 20 years in prison in October for running a military spy network for Beijing. Australia's Supreme Court has ruled that it is unlawful for the government to detain a person in an immigration detention center indefinitely. The historic ruling overturns precedent that has shaped Australia's migration policies for 20 years. The attorney general warned that the ruling would trigger a wave of compensation claims.

The case that led to the sentence was that of a stateless Rohingya man - known by the pseudonym NZYQ - who risked life imprisonment because no country would welcome him within its borders due to a pending criminal conviction.

PAKISTAN

Pakistan confirmed that its decision to ultimately expel hundreds of thousands of undocumented Afghans was a response to the Taliban-led administration's reluctance to take action against militants using Afghanistan to carry out attacks in Pakistan.

CHINA - RUSSIA

China has definitively scuttled the joint construction project with Russia of a new wide-body aircraft, which would have been the first after Soviet times, "Liner CR929" in preparation since 2017 to compete with Boeing and Airbus. The new plane will be entirely Chinese-made, for the transport of almost 300 passengers, for billions.

SOUTH KOREA

A man was crushed to death by a prototype robot in South Korea yesterday. The accident occurred while the man was inspecting the machine's sensors and robotic arm, confusing the man for a box of vegetables, he grabbed him and pushed him against the conveyor belt of the pepper sorting plant in South Gyeongsang Province. The inauguration of the system would have taken place today, after the last tests.
