Myanmar, 157 children killed by military junta in 2022

MYANMAR
In 2022, at least 157 children died in the repression of protests and military operations by the coup junta. The report by activists from the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Aapp) also states that the total number of child victims since the generals' return to power has risen to 267.
ISRAEL - PALESTINE
Israeli security forces killed two Palestinians this morning in an operation in the village of Kfar Dan, in Jenin, West Bank. The target of the operation was a house belonging to some Palestinians accused of involvement in a deadly attack on an army commander. The victims are Mohammed Samer Hoshieh, 22, and Fouad Mohammed Abed (25).
JAPAN
The Japanese Emperor Naruhito, after a two-year blockade related to the Covid-19, appeared in public this morning for New Year greetings. A traditional event marked by caution today, as the country - and the royal family - slowly return to normal. Empress Masako and her daughter Aiko were also present. There were 1,500 people at the palace, drawn by lottery.
NORTH KOREA - CHINA
Department stores in Pyongyang are stocking up on luxury goods - some original, but the vast majority counterfeit - imported from China to sell at high prices to North Korea's wealthy elite ahead of the holidays at the start of the New Year. Goods trains running between Dandong, China, and Sinuiju, North Korea, operate every day except weekends.
PAKISTAN - INDIA
Islamabad and Delhi exchanged their respective lists of nuclear facilities, part of the pact signed in 1988 that prevents attacks on atomic sites. The two countries also communicated to each other the list of prisoners in custody, as stipulated in the 2008 agreement. Pakistan holds 705 Indians (51 civilians and 654 fishermen), India 434 Pakistanis (339 civilians and 95 fishermen).
ASIA
One third of the Arab population on the Asian continent lives below the poverty line. This was established in a report published in recent days by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (Escwa), according to which the state of destitution affects up to 130 million people. It also recorded the highest unemployment figure in 2022, at 12%.
UZBEKISTAN - INDIA
Since 30 December, the sale of all kinds of medicines produced by the Indian company Marion Biotech and registered in Uzbekistan has been blocked. Behind the decision was the discovery of foreign elements in 'Dok-1 Max', suspected to be the cause of the deaths of 19 people, almost all children, in recent weeks.
