CHINA
Six people, including three children, were killed in a stabbing at a kindergarten in the southeastern province of Guangdong, China, this morning. The reasons for the attack are not known at the moment. Police have already arrested a 25-year-old man, identified by the surname Wu and resident in the town of Lianjiang. The other victims are a teacher and two parents.

IRAN - AFGHANISTAN
At the weekend, Tehran publicly executed two men, in the same place that was the scene of a deadly attack in October 2022. The execution took place at the Shah Cheragh mausoleum in Shiraz, where 13 people had died and several were injured. The confessions of the two Afghans Mohammad Ramez Rashidi and Naeem Hashem Qatali, among the 26 arrested, were forcibly extracted.

INDONESIA - SINGAPORE
Jakarta and Singapore will start the joint development of a floating solar park in Batam, in the Riau Islands archipelago, by 2024. The goal is to generate around two gigawatts of electricity, which will be transported via submarine cables. If the timetable is met, Batam will be the first in Indonesia to have a large-scale commercial photovoltaic (PV) plant.

SOUTH KOREA
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol leaves today for Lithuania, where he will attend a NATO summit to strengthen cooperation between the Atlantic bloc and allies in the Far East. Also present will be the leaders of Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Security issues, amid growing threats from Pyongyang and tensions with China, will also be at the centre of the discussion.

INDIA
In response to climate change, Delhi has identified a list of 30 minerals of strategic importance with a view to gradual decoupling from fossil fuels. These include elements such as lithium and graphite used in electric vehicle batteries, demand for which is expected to skyrocket by up to 4000% in the coming decades.

RUSSIA
According to the Verstka news agency, in a year and a half of the invasion the Russian army was guilty of more than 100 cases of persecution of religious personnel and religious structures, including shootings, destruction and confiscation of churches (Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant). Mosques and Georgian temples were also targeted, with five priests killed, eight taken hostage, 12 deported and 18 forced to flee.

TURKEY - UKRAINE
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has proposed a prisoner exchange plan between Ukraine and Russia to Zelenskyj, pledging to evaluate it with Vladimir Putin during the Russian president's visit to Ankara in August. The Turkish leader also attacked the 'war lobby' that is allegedly blocking the grain deal, which he brokered.
