"Gangnam Style" sculpture in central Seoul
Seoul (AsiaNews/Agencies) – A statue dedicated to the South Korean music hit Gangnam Style is to be unveiled in the Seoul district made famous by the song.
The 27-feet metal sculpture will show two fists overlapped in the style of the song's "horse-riding" dance move.
The statue will be located in Gangnam in front of the COEX Centre, where part of the video was apparently filmed.
Gangnam Style was released by South Korean singer Psy in 2012 and remains the most-watched YouTube video ever.
Korean media are reporting that the district set a budget of 418,320,000 won (US$ 366,301) for the sculpture.
"Thanks to the music video, Gangnam became known throughout the world. We hope this will become a landmark for our district", said Gangnam tourism director Park Hee-Soo.
"Tourists can take pictures under the statue and the song will play automatically when you stand there," Park said.
