Ho Chi Minh City (AsiaNews) - Working and discussing together the difficulties that arise in the area of social work and charitable activities, which witnesses the love of Jesus, in cooperation with other groups involved in the same area.
This is the purpose of the two day Caritas meetings in Ho Chi Minh City on 11 and 12 April, attended by 185 directors from 150 parishes in the archdiocese of Saigon. Through training, the hope is that they more and better social and charitable activities will continue to evolve.
The course objective was to provide knowledge and experience of social work to improve the work of participants inside and outside the parishes, following the guidelines laid down in the Foundations of Social Work, prepared by dr. Vu Nhi Cong.
Thanh, from Binh An Ha parish Caritas, told AsiaNews that "through the participatory approach in teaching methodology, we achieved unity, by revealing our work experiences and numerous opinions relevant to the activities of Caritas”.
Another participant, Thuy, thinks that "at the meeting, the directors from all 150 parishes had the opportunity to exchange valuable experience. In fact, we have worked for many years in social and charitable activities”.
Each parish, in fact, explained their rich and diverse social and charitable activities, helping people, whether members of the parish or not, without discrimination between Catholics and non Catholics. Because of course the role of Caritas is not simply to carry out social activities, but also to perform an act of charity, as children of Jesus
"After the formation course - says Thi, from the Parish of Tan Dinh - I want to try out one of the projects in my own parish. I want to encourage my group to base their work on the spirit of communion among Christians. "
