Church opens an exhibit to commemorate the Pope's visit to Korea
Seoul (AsiaNews) - A photo exhibition to commemorate the key moments of the visit of Pope Francis to South Korea and to "remind Korean Catholics of all the important lessons that the pontiff wanted to teach us". It is in this spirit that the Archdiocese of Seoul is preparing to inaugurate, on October 15th, the exhibition entitled "Rise and shine." The event is hosted by the capitals Department of Communications and Media.
Among the works on display, more than 50 photographs that reflect some of the "most memorable" moments of the Pope's five-day visit to Korea; the message signed by Francis to the Catholic community of Seoul; the table and the chair used before and after the great mass for reconciliation and peace on 18 August.
In the text, Francis writes: "I pray every day that you, the Catholic community in Seoul, can be the leaven of the Gospel in the city. Please pray for me. May Jesus Christ bless you, and the Holy Virgin take care of you". The public will get to see the vestments used at Mass for the beatification of the 124 Korean martyrs; the bronze medal with the image of these great witnesses of faith and other items gifted to the Pope.
The Director of the Department, Fr. Matthias Hur, says: "Through this photographic exhibition, we hope to remind people of the most significant moments of the visit of the Holy Father to our nation. It is our prayer that people will always remember the important things that the Pope Francis taught us: spirituality of reconciliation and forgiveness".
