Card. D'Rozario: Advent, a time to prepare our lives for the coming of the Lord Jesus
"This year, the lowly stable reveals our crisis situation during Covid-19". "Our personal, family and Christian lives are also represented by the stable, where Jesus Christ wants to come and He will come".
Dhaka (AsiaNews) - “Jesus Christ, born in a stable - said Cardinal Patrick D'Rozario – reminds us of our real situation and marginalization. On the other hand, it is God's love and humility. This year, the stable reveals our crisis situation during Covid-19. We can think, Jesus Christ could come from the Coronavirus vaccine between Christmas and New Year. The debate on the shape of the country could bring respect from human culture for Jesus Christ. We could build a relationship between people like Padma Bridge ".
In his Advent message to the faithful, the Cardinal outlined what Catholics should do to prepare. "Our personal, family and Christian are also represented by the stable, where Jesus Christ wants to come and He will come, if we open our door and receive Him with kindness."
"As a follower of Jesus Christ, as Pope, cardinal, bishop, priest, nun, religious and lay brother or sister, our life pursuit should be like that of Christ. In a word, our people, families and the Church should be more Christlike. With baptism we all become children of God. Hence our call to be united, innocent ".
The Cardinal suggested that, as baptized, religious and lay people, should lead an ecclesial life and witness and provide guidance in establishing unity. "Even if - he added - we are unsuitable as a stable, Jesus Christ wants to come into our life, he wants to be born in our life. Jesus wants to gift us salvation. At this moment, we could ask ourselves these questions: are we trying to receive Jesus? Does my life make way so that Jesus can come into my life? Will Jesus come into my life? Was his birth in vain? Will our Christmas be only to celebrate externally? In this season of Advent, these questions are important". If we can find the answers then, our Christmas will be appropriate.
"If we can see ourselves this way, there will be no differences or inconsistencies in our family, social and Christian life," he said. To solve social problems, Cardinal Patrick, who handed over the responsibility of the Archdiocese of Dhaka a few months ago, suggested finding solutions such as Christian values and teaching. “There is a teaching of Jesus Christ that we too can follow. Jesus taught us: 'If your brother speaks against you, go to him and show him his fault. But do so in private, only between you. If he listens to you, you've got your brother back. But if he doesn't listen to you, bring one or two people with you, so that 'every accusation can be confirmed by the testimony of two or more witnesses', as the Scripture says. And if he won't listen to them, then tell the community everything. Finally, if he will not listen to the community, treat him as if he were a heathen or a tax collector. "Those involved in conflict should understand this teaching of Jesus Christ and should follow it. For Christmas, we need spiritual preparation. We should change our course if we are on the wrong path. Citing the Bible, Cardinal Patrick concluded: "Prepare the way for the Lord; make straight paths for Him!".
