Cairo (AsiaNews /
Agencies) - A car bomb exploded this morning in front of the police
headquarters in the capital, in the Abdin neighborhood, killing three people
and wounding 35 .
The
explosion left a huge crater in the road and disfigured the facade of the police
building. In
addition to having destroyed the windows of many windows in the district, there
was also damage to an Islamic museum nearby.
According
to witnesses, shortly after the explosion several shots were fired. So
far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the passers-by who
stopped after the explosion began shouting slogans against the Muslim
Brotherhood .
The
fraternity is increasingly seen as a terrorist organization , suspected of
being the instigator of many attacks and bombings that have taken place in
recent months , after the ousting of their President Mohamed Morsi and the
referendum on the new constitution.
Today's
attack comes on the eve of the third anniversary of the start of the
demonstrations that led to the fall of Hosni Mubarak. The
Muslim Brotherhood - now an outlawed group, according to the new government -
have planned for the demonstrations today , after Friday prayers.
