Mymensingh: Christian and Muslim students mourn Fr. Bakul, a missionary and "life master"
Dhaka (AsiaNews) - Thousands of Christian and Muslim students are mourning the death of Fr. Bakul Stanislaus Rozario, who died yesterday at age 56 just days before a trip to Thailand, where he was to have undergone medical treatment. "Fr. Bakul was a great teacher in my life. He taught us not only academic subjects, he also taught us morals ", Nur Islam, a former student of Muslim missionary educator told AsiaNews.
Fr. Bakul belonged to the Congregation of the Holy Cross and was ordained a priest on November 19, 1986. He worked all his life as an educator at colleges run by the Catholic Church in Bangladesh. Students tell that he was very friendly and cheerful with his pupils.
He educated has thousands of students, many of them non-Christians. Many of them have expressed their condolences and desire that the missionary rest in peace. Ruban Gomes, a student at Notre Dame College, says: "P. Bakul was a very good teacher. We will remember him for a long time".
The educator taught at Notre Dame College in Dhaka for several years , where he served as vice-president. Last year he founded a new college in the diocese of Mymensingh, the Notre Dame College in Mymensingh [in the administrative region of Dhaka, the northern part of the country - Ed], where he was also the current president.
