University demonstration against the arrest of three students

It is the third such protest at Tehran universities since three students were sentenced on charges of printing anti-Islamic images in student papers.

Tehran (AsiaNews) – Tehran University students held another protest on Sunday calling for the release of three colleagues detained for participating in a previous demonstration, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported.

The news agency story said that tens of students (see photo) took part in the protest in front of the Faculty of Management calling for the released of the imprisoned students and shouting slogans against officials.

It was the third event of its kind since the three students from Amir Kabir University were given jail sentences of up to three years on October 16 on charges of printing anti-Islamic images in four student newspapers.

In yesterday’s demonstration students were also protesting the arrest of three other colleagues at a similar demonstration last week at Alameh Tabatabai University in the capital.
