Covid-19: 58 new outbreaks after the holidays

Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNew / Agencies) - Malaysia is seeing a surge in infections from Covid-19 after the celebrations of some national holidays. 58 new outbreaks have emerged, linked to the holidays of Hari Raya Puasa (the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan's fast) and Hari Gawai (an annual holiday celebrated by the Dayaks).

More than 13,000 people have been tested for Covid-19 and 27% of them tested positive. According to Noor Hisham Abdullah, director of the Health Department in Malaysia, at least 20 deaths yesterday are linked to the new outbreaks, while for 17 consecutive days the number of people in intensive care has continued to increase.
