Woman who splashed ink on a poster of Xi Jinping in Shanghai goes missing

Chinese activists are concerned about the fate of a young woman missing since yesterday after she splashed ink on a poster of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Her Twitter account has been deleted and nothing has been heard from her since.

Shanghai (AsiaNews/Agencies) – A woman who splashed ink on a Xi Jinping poster in Shanghai has gone missing after she live-streamed her action on the @feefeefly twitter account. In it, she says: “I oppose Xi Jinping’s tyranny”.

Since then the account was deleted, but copies of the video and screenshots of her tweets are still circulating online.

The young woman also posted photos of what appeared to be police officers seen through a door’s peephole.

“Right now, there are a group of people wearing uniforms outside my door. I’ll go out after I change my clothes. I did not commit a crime,” she says.

According to her supporters, it was the last thing she posted. Her account is no longer available. The pictures were reposted by Hua Yong, a Beijing artist.

He expressed concern over her safety and asked those in Shanghai to try to find her. “Please everyone pay attention, don’t let her vanish without a trace – defend the constitution, freedom of speech is not a crime!”
